Meet our ‘Ohana
Captain Ricky
Captain Ricky has worked for DLNR at Manele Harbor, Captain for Trilogy Excursions and catered to Four Season's guests for over 18 years. His experience in and out of the water makes him one of the best-rounded and respected watermen on Lana'i. He recently completed the delivery of our newest vessel Lana’i II from Newport Beach to Lanaʻi. On the trip he was nicknamed the “fish killer,” helping make sure nobody went hungry and almost landed a 500lb Marlin.
Captain Dustin
Captain Dustin has worked for Trilogy for a total of 19 years and Lana'i Ocean Sports for 3. He is one of our most skilled Captains. Captain Dustin is also scuba certified and working his way to his advanced certification. His favorite trip to drive is the snorkel sail. He was born and raised on the island of Lana'i and his knowledge for the island of Lana'i is unparalleled. He also worked for Expeditions Ferry for 6 years. Captain Dustin is hardworking, consistent, & well rounded. When he's not working you can find him out on the water diving or in the mountains hunting.
Atreyu
Atreyu was born and raised on the island of Lana'i. You can call him Trey for short. Trey says, "I'm doing what I love to do working with guest on the ocean is prime for me. I learn something new everyday and meet new people around the world. I hope to be a Captain soon, there aren't too many on the island of Lana'i. I would like to start a trend and be a role model for keikis here like Dustin and Ricky was for us when we were young". In his free time Trey loves to fish along the shore line for dinner and he also enjoys hunting for Axis deer.
Captain Kamalani
Captain Kama is a rising star among local Captains, recently completing a 6,000 mile charter boat delivery from St. Croix to Maui. Prior to moving home to Lana'i to help start Lana'i Ocean Sports, Kama worked for Trilogy as a Captain and Mate of Record, working closely with the USCG and Master Rigger John Koon. The only thing that rivals his love of the ocean is his love for his ‘Ohana. He hopes to pass on his love for the ocean and sailing to his two young boys.
Martin
Martin has been a valued crew member for over 18 years with LOSM and our sister company Trilogy. He was born and raised in the Marshal islands and moved to Hawaii with his wife to raise his family on Lana'i. He has also worked for Expeditions ferry for 5 + years prior to working with Lana'i Ocean Sports. Martin is an amazing guide when it comes to snorkel tours. Many guest come back yearly and ask about Martin and comment how comical he's is. Martin would like to say " I'm here along with the captains and crew to share the love of the ocean with you all".
Dominador
You can call him Jr for short. Jr has been with Lana'i Ocean sports for over 3 years now as a deck hand but aspire to be an upcoming captain in the future. Jr also is a captain of his own boat and you can find him out fishing on his free time with his wife and triplets… yea you heard that right TRIPLETS! Junior moved to Lana'i from the Philippines many years ago and says Lana'i is one of a kind. He would also like to share a safety tip for all future travelers to have fun but most importantly be safe.
Captain Kristin
Kristin has worked for Trilogy/ LOSM for a combined total of 7 years Starting in 2012. Previously she has worked on boats in Alaska, Texas, the Gulf of Mexico, Maui and Kauai. Her background is Marine Biology and is currently LOSM’s head Dive Instructor. Her favorite Hawaiian island to dive off of is Lana'i of course! Her favorite place in the world that she has been diving is the Philippines. When she's not working, she enjoys creating gyotaku fish prints and shell jewelry.
Captain Chris
Captain Chris began working as a captain for LOSM over two years ago when he moved from Oahu to Lana'i. Before the move, he had worked as a rescue swimmer, boat operator, and technician for a deep-water submersible team researching precious coral. Here he had the opportunity to co-pilot a submarine to 2,300 feet. Originally from the East Coast, he grew up an avid racer of dinghies, small keelboats, and catamarans, which lead me to become a US Sailing instructor. He has logged more than 40,000 offshore sailing miles.
Joemar
Joemar is one of our newest crew members. He's absorbed so much in this past year. He was born and raised on the island of Lana'i. He is determined to build his boating career by obtaining his captains license. Prior to working with Lana'i Ocean Sports Joemar has his own business as a painter. Joemar says "The best part about working with Lana'i Ocean Sports is doing the fishing charters and meeting people from all over the world. Also the opportunities for me to learn about boats and mechanical work"
